PGCR TRYHARDATHALON 2
The PGCR Halo Tryharathalon 2 will be taking place this February.
Last year, the inaugural event was played on three nights, featuring a night of Halo 3, one of Halo Reach and one of Halo 4. This year will follow the same format! (Part trying to be consistant, part just lazy…)
For those who don’t know, the idea is simple, free for all and team games where points are based on where you stand, if you hit a bonus & when the dust settles and showing up to spread the love!
DISCLAIMER: The goal of this event is to promote fun Halo game play in the community. Although there will be a competitive edge to this, the organizers of this contest (Gagnon 30 and Robowski) have the final decision on end results. Rules and or modification of the rules if the spirit of fair and honest game play is at stake will be made if needed. In layman PGCR terms, if someone is an ***hole and makes the event a drag by being a douche, that person will get the boot from the event and we will revisionist history the whole thing so badly, it will make Moses name being stricken from every Obelisk in Egypt seem like child’s play. Anyone trying to be a jerk and say “That wasn’t mentioned in the rules!” may be shown this little write up and told to take a hike. WE WILL DO WHAT IS BEST FOR FUN AND FAIR PLAY.
WHEN IS IT AND WHAT IS IT?
For three consecutive Tuesdays starting Feb 4th Gagnon 30 hosted 90 min long session starting at 8pm Eastern Standard Time will take place. Points will be given out on how a team finishes and after the four nights standings/winners will be posted.
Feb 4th HALO 3: “Spartans Don’t Sprint!”
Feb 11th HALO Reach: “Armor Lock Sucks”
Feb 18th HALO 4: “Evander Free Game Night (So the rest of us have a chance)”
Feb 25th ALTERNATE NIGHT: In the event there are issues with any of the previuous 3 nights, this is a back up slot.
Each night will consist of AT LEAST 5 games. It is possible there might be more and the session lasts longer than an hour but no more than 90 minutes.
WE WILL START GAMES SHORTLY AFTER 8PM, SO PLEASE BE ONLINE AT 7:45 EST to GET READY.
HOW DO I JOIN?
Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know you are interested in playing. PLEASE include the following in your subject field so the email doesn’t get misfiled: ‘PGCR Trihardathon’
You can, if you wish, only participate on certain nights, so PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHICH NIGHTS YOU INTEND TO PARTICIPATE IN.
We will likely take last minute joiners on game night, but only if there is room. Ideally we’d like to go with either 8 or 16 players.. We’ll see how it goes!
DID YOU READ THE LAST LINE? WE TOP OFF AT 16 PLAYERS MAX. (I know.. its wishful tinking th event will draw that many, but for the record, if we do, its first come, first confirmed, first in to play on each night!
WHAT ARE THE GAMETYPES?
There is right now a rough schedule for each night and the basic 5 games include individual and team games. The reason why this schedule isn’t public or finalized is because which ones we choose depends on how many people sign up and most importantly show up when it’s time to play. Details on projected game types will be leaked on PGCR podcast 194 and on the PGCR Facebook site at: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Postgame-Carnage-Report/182355645114511
WHAT IS THE SYSTEM TO RANK PLAYERS FOR STANDINGS?
FREE FOR ALL GAMES
In FFA games players will be ranked on how they finished and the allocation of points starting from 16 points to the winner with each position getting one point less in the decending order they finished.
EVEN IF THERE ARE LESS THAN 16 PLAYERS THIS IS THE METHODOLOGY
1st place 16 points
2nd place 15 points
3rd place 14 points
4th place 13 points
5th place 12 points
6th place 11 points
7th place 10 points
8th place 9 points
9th place 8 points
10th place 7 points
11th place 6 points
12th place 5 points
13th place 4 points
14th place 3 points
15th place 2 points
16th place 1 point
In the event players are tied for a spot, the players get the same points their overall position dictates (Example, a tie in second place in a game of 6 players means that whoever is second all get 15 points each)
UNDERSTANDING THIS: Even if there are only 8 players playing and you finish 8th, you get 9 points.
BONUS POINTS: A player will get bonus points if they have the following during an individual match:
PERFECTO: If a player gets perfection in a game (15 kills minimum and no death)
In TEAM games the scoring system will be the following:
Team Slayer: (2 teams)
First Place: 3 points
Second Place: 1 point
Multiteam scoring similar to FFA game type, where points are allocated on number of teams, with the exception of the first place team getting an additional point.
1: Team A 50 kills
2: Team B 45 kills
3: Team C 33 kills
4: Team D 0 kills (Lets call this team “Team Robowski”)
Team A gets 5 points, Team B 3, Team C 2, and Team D for showing up gets one point.
BONUS POINTS: Teams will get bonus points if they have the following:
SKUNK: In the event a team shuts out an opponent in the following ways, they get a bonus point
Team Slayer: A team doesn’t get any kills (I know.. WON’T happen)
CTF: A team doesn’t allow their opponents any flag scores
CLOSE: A losing team loses by either 2 kills or less in Slayer type game or 1 flag in CTF
PERFECTO: If a player gets perfection in a team game (15 kills minimum and no death) then their team will gain an extra point.
EACH PLAYER ON A TEAM GETS THE TEAM POINT ALLOCATED TO THEIR INDIVIDUAL SCORE: So if a team finished with 3 points, each player gets 3 points added to their own individual score.
Teams are selected based on how players finished in the FFA game types of that night and then the teams are allocated in effort to rank the most fairly.
Example: (Showing points earned after FFA section is finished)
1: Player A 18 points
2: Player B 16 points
3: Player C 14 points
4: Player D 12 points
5: Player E 10 points
6: Player F 8 points
7: Player G 7 points
8: Player H 3 points (Let’s call this player “Robowski”)
TEAM ALLOCATION BASED ON STANDINGS: “R” denotes Rank, so ‘R1’ means ‘Ranked First’
R1, R3, R5, R7
R2, R4, R6, R8
IN THE EVENT THAT THERE IS AN UNEVEN AMOUNT OF PLAYERS, THE PLAYER RANEKD FIRST WILL BE ABLE TO DECIDE WHETHER THEY WANT THE LAST RANEKD PLAYER ON THEIR TEAM (Giving them and extra player) OR ON THE OTHER TEAM.
For Multiteam (If we play any) Teams will also be allocated in a fair manner based on ranking. The criteria for this is a combination of rankign and number of players participating on a given night.
If a player gets disconnected during a match, they automatically will finish last. If more than one player drops then the first one is last, next one second to last ect ect.
You can’t boot a teammate for betrayals. It’s the honor system, if you’re gonna be a jerk and betray teammates on purpose knowing you can’t get booted, you will be removed/banned from the event.
What? Sorry… this is no budget thing, you want prizes, get a lottery ticket. Maybe if this event catches on, then well do something.
While some fans of PGCR are obviously noticeable in our slice of the Halo community, we would love to see those quieter fans coming out. Some may be really good and considered a ringer. Get a grip if this bothers you, as long as they are playing for fun and not being a douche, they are welcome. One goal of this event is to have listeners known who we didn’t know before!
HOST ISP ISSUES
Gagnon 30 will host the game nights, if any of you think he has advantage of hosting, check out his numbers at Waypoint and see how badly he sucks at Halo. If Gagnon 30 discos, the game will be restarted.
If you get bumped/discoed from a game, TFB, get a better ISP. You can rejoin in Game for Halo 4 (Which allows you to do such) but otherwise you can’t restart that game and finish rated with whatever kills/points you had prior to getting bumped or rage quitting. (In case Gem plays we added rage quit)
It’s PGCR, where yeah, there is trash talk, but were all adults (Some more mature than others) so don’t cross the line where fun trash talk between friends goes too far.
These were the winners from the first event
Here is the scoring for each night, yes, there are nightly ‘Champions’ as well
